China's May Day holiday is just around the corner. And national railway companies are preparing for a massive travel rush. Railway officials are expecting passengers to book 45 million train trips over the three day weekend -- 9-point-7 percent more than last year.
Traffic will peak on Saturday, with around 13-point-2 million trips. Popular destinations include Beijing, Harbin, Dalian, Hangzhou and Xiamen. China's national railway operator, China Railway Corporation, says extra trains will be put into service to meet increased demand. Operating time for online ticket booking systems will also be increased.
