Italy and Austria have agreed to avoid the closure of the Brenner Pass border. This came several days after Vienna announced it would reinforce the passage to block migrants going to central and northern Europe.
The Italian foreign minister said the agreement is still not definitive, as both sides need to work out on some security issues. Austria said it would not build walls or barriers in the pass, though controls will be conducted there if needed.
The Brenner Pass is a crucial tourism and economic route between the two countries. Vienna had earlier bolstered its border controls as an answer to the EU's ongoing actions on the migrant crisis.
