There are only 100 days remaining in the countdown to the Rio Olympics in Brazil, and many people have already booked hotel accommodations. Analysts expect hotel prices in Rio to triple to about U.S.$290 during the Games from the current average of about U.S.$100.
During the Olympics, 400,000 people are expected to visit Rio de Janeiro. Nearly 90 percent of the available online accommodations were already booked by early April.
“The number of accommodations in Rio is not enough to match the rising demand of tourists. Therefore, prices have risen with the demand. To assist the Rio Olympics to be successful, the number of hotel rooms will increase from 30,000 to 60,000 to meet the demand,” said the general manager of the Hilton, Rio De Janeiro.
