Today marks World Intellectual Property Day. This year's theme is 'Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined', prompting consideration of the future of culture in the digital age.
The day has been observed annually on April 26 since 2000. It aims to raise public awareness about the role of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyright, in encouraging innovation and creativity.
April 26th was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day because it coincides with the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.
