China's qualifying tournament for the 2016 Robot World Cup has begun in Hefei, the capital of east China’s Anhui province. Almost 2,000 contestants and 300 teams are taking part in the competition. Robots are playing various roles, from houseworkers and disaster relief experts, to even football players.
One of the most popular events at the tournament is seeing the robots play against humans. Organizers of the Robot World Cup hope that by 2050, they will be able to produce a robotic team which can beat the champions of the actual soccer world cup.
