In Shanghai, local businesses are preparing for the June opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort, which promises to draw in millions of visitors every year. The resort is Disney's sixth overall, but the first on the Chinese mainland. We have more here from CCTV's reporter on what this resort will bring to the local economy.

Just seven kilometers from the Disney Resort is Chuansha Ancient Town, which has been going through a thorough facelift ahead of the grand opening of the theme park.

It's already seeing an increase in the number of visitors coming through its gates.

"We earn tens of hundreds of yuan a day now. When Shanghai Disneyland opens, our daily revenues may reach 20,000 yuan," said the vendor Chen Jianping.

It's not just Chuansha. Xinchang Ancient Town, just 15 kilometers, is looking for its share of the spoils.

A waterside town with about 1,300 years of history. It harbors the most historical buildings in Shanghai's Pudong area.

And now some new flavor is being added. Xinchang is promoting the handicraft and innovative design industries.

Li Xiuyuan, the owner of this youth hostel, is from Taiwan. He came to Shanghai more than 10 years ago to work in IT. But last year he decided to change career, and he and his wife started running this place.

As Disney's grand opening edges closer, they've got busier and they're now planning to add some magic.

"Since Disneyland emphasizes that dreams can come true, we have sketched on the wall, and allow children to color them in as they wish."

The hope is to give tourists a taste of the authentic, local culture.

"Through Xinchang's protection and renewal, we hope to revive our traditional culture, and we can also echo the Western entertainment culture like Disney," said Lin Tingjun, Chief of Xinchang village.

The local Real Estate sector is also seeing movement. When authorities officially announced in 2009 that the resort would be built in Chuansha, there was little or no movement in the market: homes remained at about 11,000 yuan per square meter.

But four years later, their worth had nearly tripled. Some have even hit 40,000 yuan this year, as more Disney workers look to buy homes in the area. Meanwhile, many long-term residents hope their neighborhoods will now see some significant improvements.

"I hope, after the renovation, tourists coming to Disney from all around the world will feel the environment is nice here."

There's a real hope that it won't be just the millions of tourists who will benefit from the new Disney Resort.
