The local tourism and real estate markets will of course experience great profits, but the theme park will also provide indirect incentives for other sectors. CCTV reporter tells us how Disneyland can cast its magic spell over the local agricultural scene.
Fresh eggs, ready and waiting to be sent to the market. Located in Chuansha new town -- on the perimeter of Shanghai Disneyland -- Huilv Egg Company is planning to relocate its chicken farm elsewhere.
"We will still focus on Shanghai for the source and market. As for the traditional breeding industry, we have decided to move it to somewhere outside," said Gu Chengyong, manager of Huilv Egg Company.
Chengyong's farm is not the only one being affected. This new town is undergoing a thorough agricultural transformation ahead of the grand opening of the park.
More than 1,700 hectares of land are primed to provide food for the visitors to the new theme park. Tian Yuejiao -- the owner of a bio farm in Chuansha -- is thrilled to be one of the fruit and veg. suppliers.
"We could pick up fresh vegetables at my farm every morning and deliver them to the resort, or to the Shanghai Disney suppliers within 30 minutes, to secure the food's safety in the supply chain," said Tian Yuejiao, owner of Bio Farm.
"How should we understand Disneyland? It is a resort, but it is more than a theme park. What's more, we should have judgement concerning the scale of visitors,"
"If we finish the park's first phase, there will be about 16 million visitors coming. They need food, which means there is a demand for vegetable farms. All of these will lead to the further development of agriculture," said He Jianmin, Dean of Department of Tourism Shanghai University of Finance & Economics.
Advantageous geographical location, delicately designed agricultural development. This theme park is bringing more opportunities to the new town.
But how to improve cooperation with Disney and how to stimulate more innovation? These are the challenges aheard for its further development.
