Holland's famous flower season is upon us... acres of tulips and other colorful flowers cover the broad, flat fields across the country. And to showcase the stunning blossoms even more is its renowned flower parade, one of the world's largest.
This may be the most beautiful traffic jam in the world.
The annual flower parade in Holland is a memorable experience for flower lovers who come from all over the world to see it.
This is the 69th flower parade in Holland, featuring 17 enormous floats and 30 cars richly decorated with flowers. They drive a 25 mile route from Noordwijk to Haarlem. The parade draws one million tourists every year.
One big float like this requires 10 to 20 people working two days around the clock, with around 400,000 flowers. Susanne is a volunteer here at the float making site. Every year, she comes to give a hand, with patience and love.
Among the giant floats, there is one with the theme of the Silk Road. A typical Chinese ceramic tea set and Money King give it an authentic Chinese look.
"The theme of this year is like flower and fashion . They came up with the idea to do..... so they name it the SILK ROAD. The connection between China and Europe in terms of silk road which has a relation to fashion. That's why they did this one," said Joan Stam, float designer.
