South Korea says the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile in the eastern waters.
A South Korean official told Xinhua over the phone that the projectile was fired at about 6:30 p.m. local time, in waters off the DPRK's South Hamgyong province. The official declined to elaborate on whether the launch succeeded, saying the military is closely monitoring the situation.
