Dozens of climate activists have gathered outside the Paris hotel venue of the International Oil Summit, protesting against industry practices that could hamper the new climate accord.

The protesters displayed banners reading "Stop climate crime". Some of them drew their silhouettes with white paint to simulate a crime scene.

Activists say they staged the protest as the summit gathers major oil industries and some organizations such as OPEC. And they aim to raise public awareness to the fact that the oil industry was widely contributing to global warming.

"We wanted to underline the fact that there is a huge contradiction there since the Climate Agreement plans to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, which was the commitment of all countries," said Aurelie, activist.

"But if the oil industry continues that way we are going to overpass three degrees, which is the climate imbalance threshold and when the situation will become difficult to deal with.''
