Now here's literary dedication for you - searching high and low for rare titles and selling them at bargain prices on a boat. We meet a London bookseller who has made this his life's work.
This scenic spot by a London canal is also a haven for book lovers. The 'Floating Bookstore' was founded by veteran book seller John and friends.
"I consider my self a professional book seller. I haven't done any other - since the day I sold my first books, I haven't earned any money doing anything anything else. That was 23 years ago. We are trying to be as eclectic as possible, have a really wide range of books. It is categorized as children's books, classics, biographies, fictions, and non-fictions, the separate categories inside the shop," bookstore owner John said.
Literary bargains and scenery afloat in London
John's major in college was, you guessed it, Literature.
His speciality is sourcing books not sold anywhere else, and for him, it's both a profession and a hobby. Finding a vintage book he has been looking for is, he says, like meeting an old friend, and the pleasure is doubled when it finds its way to an appreciative reader.
On sale are more than 3,000 titles from different periods. They are mostly vintage books, some out of print, obtained through auctions. The oldest copy was published in 1905.
And when the average price of a book is less than a cup of coffee, bookworms are keen to find a bargain.
It's nice to own something that's a hard copy, as opposed to doing a download, which is - you might worry about all this stuff, where to put them. But with the book, it's always accessible, isn't it? It's half an hour right there, probably an hour a day that you can spend in your book, which is pretty good.
Amid the riverside scenery and bathed in music, 'The London Bookbarge' is every literature lover's treat!
