The world is in tears today, as the music industry has lost yet another musical legend. Singer, writer, and performer Prince was found dead at his home in Minnesota. He was just 57-years-old. 

Legendary genius provocateur, Prince was a musical and cultural icon who entertained the world for decades. The news of his sudden death at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota is sending shock waves around the globe.

Just last week, Prince's plane made an emergency landing in Illinois where he was treated for flu-like symptoms. He was treated and released, and even performed the next night. But according to reports, Prince was battling an illness for weeks.  

The 57-year-old superstar was prolific, releasing 39 albums since 1979. The list of hits is extensive, including 'Kiss', 'Little Red Corvette', '1999' and, of course, 'Purple Rain', his 1984 album that garnered two Grammys and an Oscar for best original song score.  

The internet exploded immediately after the news of Prince's death was released.  

Even U.S. President Barack Obama released a statement: "Today, the world lost a creative icon, Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent."

A talent, undoubtedly, many say, who's gone too soon.
