Ecuador's government says the death toll from Saturday's magnitude-7.8 earthquake in northern Ecuador has risen to 480. About four thousand people were injured and 230 more are missing.

Some good news broke the gloom Tuesday as three people were found alive in the rubble of a building in the city of Manta. The survivors, two women and a man, were immediately taken to the hospital for urgent medical care.

Public services are slowly coming back in line in affected areas. By Tuesday, much of the province of Manabi had remained without energy, water and telecommunications.
