Kuwait's oil production has dropped to one third of its normal level because of a nation-wide production strike. The national oil conglomerate Kuwait Petroleum Corp. cut its crude output from the normal level of about 3 million barrels per day to 1.1 million barrels.
More than seven thousand Kuwaiti oil and gas workers took the streets starting Sunday. They're protesting against the government's new plan to cut wages and incentives amid sharp declines in crude prices. Unions warn that the strike will continue until the workers' demands are met.
