---In April 2008, China and New Zealand signed a Free Trade Agreement, the first of its kind that China has signed with a developed country. Since then, two-way trade has more than doubled, reaching almost 13 billion US dollars in 2015.
---New Zealand's exports to China stood at close to 6 billion U.S. dollars in 2015, up 17.5% from the previous year. The growth was led by a rise in milk powder, butter and cheese. The New Zealand government is aiming to enlarge its dairy exports to China and an upgrade of the FTA in that sector will top Prime Minister Key's China agenda.
---In 2015, 355,000 Chinese tourists visited New Zealand, up 11.4% from the same period in the previous year. Chinese tourist spending in the nation was up 18.3 percent to 1.62 billion USD.
