Chinese President Xi Jinping has met former US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in Beijing. 

President Xi said during their talks on Tuesday that he appreciates Paulson's contribution to China-US cooperation and exchanges. He added that the results from bilateral collaborations demonstrate the vitality of the major power relations between China and the US. 

President Xi said that to promote relations, the two sides should enhance communications and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in economic and financial areas. 

Paulson spoke highly of the fruitful achievements in the bilateral collaboration. He said China's reforms will bring more potential and impetus for deepening economic ties between Beijing and the US. He said he hopes the two nations can accelerate negotiations on a bilateral investment treaty.
