Chinese intellectual property authorities have briefed the media on the country's achievements in 2015. One of the highlight is the rise in applications for invention patents. They increased about 19 percent over the previous year, ranking the first in the world for the fifth consecutive year.
"China has seen rapid growth in invention patent creation. China has ranked first in the world in patent filings for the fifth consecutive year in 2015," said Shen Changyu, Commissioner, State Intellectual Property Office.
"We recieved a total of 2.799 million applications for patents. Of them, more than one million were for invention patents, a year-on-year increase of 18.7 percent."
