China clarified its criteria for punishment of graft Monday. According to the new judicial explanation, convicts found guilty of embezzling or accepting bribes of 3 million yuan (about U.S.$460,000) or more could face the death penalty.

The ruling was jointly issued by the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.
