South Korea’s ruling party has failed to regain a majority in Wednesday's parliamentary election.
The Saenuri Party gained a total of 122 parliamentary seats in the 300-seat National Assembly. It missed expectations for a two-thirds super majority. This means Park Geun-hye’s government will face more deadlock in the National Assembly as she tries to push through her legislative agenda to boost a sluggish economy.
South Korea’s economy grew 2.6 percent last year while youth unemployment reached 12.5 percent in February, the highest since the government started keeping records in 1999.
