US President Barack Obama has committed his biggest mistake of his presidency was the lack of planning for the aftermath of the fall of late Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi. He says it has left the country spiraling into chaos and grappling with violent extremists.
Obama made the comments in a Fox News interview aired Sunday, saying his "worst mistake" was "probably failing to plan after rightly intervening Libya". Since the downfall of Gadhafi, who was killed in a popular revolt, Libya descended into near-anarchy. It has since been ruled by rival militias vying for power while the Islamic State group has gained influence in the country.
