The DPRK says it has successfully tested out an engine designed for an inter-continental ballistic missile. It claims to "guarantee" an eventual nuclear strike on the United States.
The DPRK's state media, KCNA, has reported that the test was ordered and personally monitored by Kim Jong Un. The DPRK leader was also quoted saying "the success" provided "a firm guarantee" for "mounting another form of nuclear attack" upon the US. This has been the latest in a series of claims by Pyongyang of significant breakthroughs in its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile program. However, experts have been sceptical of these claims, suggesting it's an attempt to talk up the achievements ahead of the ruling party congress next month.
