German chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande have held bilateral talks in the eastern French city of Metz.

About 30 ministers from the two countries are also attending the 18th Franco-German summit. The summit will focus on the refugee crisis and the fight against the Islamic State militant group. Both sides are scheduled to present a report on integration efforts for migrant communities and outline plans for a joint integration committee.
