China is Myanmar's largest neighboring country. The two sides attach great importance to their long-term friendship. Aung San Suu Kyi visited China last June. She said she personally felt the profound friendship between the two peoples. And Wang Yi is also the first Chinese foreign minister to visit the Southeast Asian country after Myanmar elected a new civilian government late last year.

The trade volume between China and Myanmar counts for about a third of Myanmar's total foreign trade volume. Experts believe that more cooperation is expected between the two sides.

The invitation for the Chinese foreign minister soon after Myanmar's new government took office indicates that Myanmar attaches great important to its relationship with China. Myanmar is within the framework of China's one belt one road initiative. The Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar economic corridor project is also another beneficial initiative by China. Myanmar also pays high attention to the AIIB. Myanmar's infrastructure can have a better future by getting more funding support from the AIIB," Su Xiaohui, deputy director of Dept. of Int'l & Strategic Studies, CIIS, said.
