Over a month of war has brought massive damage to the town of al-Qaryatain in Syria's central Homs Governorate. Syrian government forces recaptured the strategic town from ISIL last Sunday, one week after the retaking of Palmyra.

Soldiers said al-Qaryatain suffered greater damage than Palmyra after the fierce resistance from ISIL against the Syrian army. Government forces have also been de-mining the town.
