Imagine getting a good workout while getting your laundry done. Wouldn't that be great? Students at Dalian Nationalities University in Northeast China have come up with the concept of a bike-powered washing machine.

4 years ago, Tutor Liu Xuefei would never have thought the graduation design project of the students could draw widespread interest on western social media. The inspiration came from campus life.

It's as simple as riding a bike. When you pedal, the motion causes the drum of the washing machine to spin; at the same time, electricity is generated, which can power the display screen or be stored for future use.

For now, the Bike Washing Machine remains just a concept. But at least it demonstrates the eco-friendly way of thinking in China's young generation.
