Syrian troops have uncovered a mass grave in the recently recaptured city of Palmyra. So far, they have identified the bodies of 42 people executed by the Islamic State. 24 of the victims were civilians, including three children.
The grim discovery showed many had been shot, while others were beheaded. The grave was found days after Syrian troops retook Palmyra from ISIL militants. The jihadists had been in control of the area since May last year.
