The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed concerns over the clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. 

The UN Chief called on the two sides to put an immediate end to the fighting, abide by the ceasefire agreement and take urgent steps to de-escalate the situation. 

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for an immediate end to fighting along the frontline. He called on the parties in the conflict to observe an immediate ceasefire and exercise restraint to prevent further casualties.
