China says it stands ready to make good use of a new nuclear security center. Xu Dazhe, chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority said the country is willing to share its best practices in the capacity building of nuclear security.

"We will turn this center into an important venue for international exchange and cooperation, education and training, demonstration of advanced technologies, analysis and casting. And it is fair to say that effort and work made possible by this center can cover every aspect of our nuclear security work," Xu said.

The Center of Excellence on Nuclear Security in Beijing is the largest of its kind in the Asia Pacific region. China and the US agreed to establish the Center at the Nuclear Security Summit in 2010. Under the agreement, the Center is run and administered by China, while the US provides equipment. The center is capable of training about 2,000 nuclear security staff every year. Xu said China will use the platform to work even more closely with the IAEA and provide comprehensive training services to relevant countries.
