With many top Chinese universities joining the Massive Open Online Course or MOOC trend by posting their popular courses online, the entire MOOC market in China is expected to reach nearly 190 billion yuan in 2016, and with 120 million enrolled students.
Over a quarter of the total amount invested went into pre-college education courses. Following that the most popular are language training, professional training and prep classes for those going overseas to study.
A recent poll shows nearly half of all enrolled students would say yes to paid courses, while 35 percent reject the option. Mobile devices overtook PCs in 2015 to become the primary platform through which students access their online education.
