At the World Figure Skating Championships in Boston, American Gracie Gold, was trying to live up to her name and capture the title -- but more than three-dozen skaters would be looking to make their marks in Ladies Short Program, including China's Li Zi'jun and Zhao Zi'quan.
It was the fourth world championships for Li. Her best result was seventh in 2013. Dancing to music of "Moonlight", she earned 65.39 points, a personal best in the short program and sits in eleventh.
Another Chinese skater Zhao, is making her debut at the worlds. The 19-year-old won silver medal at this year's National Winter Games. She finished with 52.8 points and sits in 21st heading into the free skate.
America's Gracie Gold is the one to catch after the short program. With a red flower in her hair, she skated to an Argentine tango with passion and power. Gold scored 76.43 points, followed by Russia's Anna Pogorilaya and Evgenia Medvedeva. She can become the first American woman to grab a podium finish since 2006.
