U Htin Kyaw of Myanmar’s National League for Democracy has been sworn in as the country’s new president.

Htin Kyaw delivered his first address in the parliament before taking over the presidency from his predecessor Thein Sein. Two vice presidents and 18 cabinet ministers also took the oath of office. Among the ministers, six were from the ruling NLD.
NLD Chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi became the country’s new foreign minister. She will also be the President’s Office minister, education minister and minister of electricity and energy.
