The hijacker of the EgyptAir flight appeared in a Cyprus court on Wednesday. Egyptian Seif al Din Mustafa will face multiple charges. He told police he hijacked the plane, because he wanted to see his estranged wife and children. CCTV's Stephanie Freid in Cyprus has this update.
Seif al Din Mustafa was brought here to the courthouse in Larnaca Cyprus this morning - potentially he faces a laundry list of charges that include kidnapping or abduction with intent, threats of violence, threat to assault with explosives and offenses committed against civil aviation laws.
However, right now this process is in the preliminary stages
Off the record a police spokesperson said that Mustafa's mental state is also a consideration and that a doctor will be brought in to assess his mental capabilities. That could weigh-in on the potential charges filed against him.
