Porsche to recall 640 vehicles due to safety belt problem

2010-04-13 09:02 BJT

BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- China's quality watchdog said Monday Porsche (China) Motors will recall 640 vehicles of three types due to a potential safety belt defect.

The three types being involved were identified to be Panamera S, Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), citing a report it has received from Porsche (China) Motors asking for a recall.

A design defect with the safety belt may prompt the failure of the fixation function in extreme cases, threatening the safety of the occupants, said the administration.

The recall involves vehicles which were produced before Feb. 25, 2010.

The company will install additional safety devices for the cars, and owners can contact Porsche (China) Motors Ltd. on a hotline by calling 021-23215731. Car owners can also contact the GAQSIQ at 010-59799616 or 010-65537365 for more information, the GAQSIQ said.
