Special Report: Shanghai World Expo 2010 |
SHANGHAI, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Two fossilified Jurassic period dinosaurs were set up Sunday at the Yunnan Province pavilion in Shanghai Expo park and were ready to meet audience.
The two dinosaurs, one is 6.4-meter-long and 2.5-meter-tall Lufengosaurus huenei and the other, a 10-meter-long and 4-meter-tall Lufengosaurus magnus, both herbivorous dinosaurs, lived in early Jurassic period, said Guo Wudai, deputy head of the Yunnan pavilion.
The dinosaur fossils were flown from Yunnan to Shanghai on Wednesday, and have been coated with protection fluids to prevent any damages during exhibition, Guo added.
The two fossilified dinosaurs will be presented to and permanently displayed in Shanghai Science and Technology Museum after the Expo, he said.
The fossils, unearthed in 1997, are among the oldest dinosaur fossils in China. They had been previously displayed in Yunnan's Lufeng County, he said.
