Thai red-shirts cancel rally in 11 banned streets

BANGKOK, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The anti-government protesters known as red-shirts Tuesday canceled a planned rally in 11 streets of the Thai capital Bangkok on security concerns.

The government's Peacekeeping Operations Command earlier barred the red-shirts from holding a mass rally in these 11 streets.

The cancellation was announced at the main rally site Phan Fah Bridge by red-shirts core leader Kwanchai Praipana, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported.

Approximately 3,000 red-shirts are still gathering at Bangkok's main shopping center Ratchprasong Intersection in a bid to press the government to dissolve the Lower House of parliament and call early election.
