TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Thursday morning hanged two "rioters" who were convicted of being involved in the country's post-election riots, the state IRIB TV reported.
"According to the general and revolution court of Tehran, two persons named Mohammad-Reza Ali-Zamani and Arash Rahmani-Pour, whose cases were confirmed by a Tehran appeals court, were hanged this morning," the report said.
The two were charged with plotting to topple the Islamic regime, the ISNA news agency said, quoting a statement from the Tehran prosecutor's office.
The pair were among a group of eleven people who have already been sentenced to death for participating in Tehran's post- election riots.
The cases of the nine others are in the stage of appealing and they are waiting for the appeal court's final verdicts, the report said.
Protests gripped Tehran and other Iranian cities after the June 12 presidential election, amid claims that the vote had been rigged in favor of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Iran's state media said about 30 people have been killed in the clashes after the election.
