Afghan and NATO troops detain several insurgents

KABUL, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Afghan and the NATO-led troops have detained several Taliban insurgents including three explosive devices facilitators elsewhere in the south and east of the war- torn country, a press release of the alliance said Tuesday.

These operations, according to the press release, carried out in Helmand, Kandahar, Khost, Logar and Nangarhar provinces Monday night during which several Taliban insurgents including three explosive devices facilitators were arrested.

However, it did not say the exact number of the suspected insurgents captured during the operations by the troops.

One militant was killed and several illegal weapons including automatic rifles and grenades were uncovered by the troops, it further said.

Taliban militants have yet to make comment.
