Epic musical "Road to Revival" back on stage

BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- "Road to Revival" -- a grand musical epic that recounted the country's turbulent history from the Opium War in 1840 to 2009 and initially staged for the National Day celebrations in 2009 was replayed in Beijing Thursday night.

Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, watched then early three-hour performance, which was in dedication to the 60thanniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The musical will be staged for 80 times over the next three months at the National Center for the Performing Arts in central Beijing. Since its debut in Sept. 20 last year at the Great Hall of the People, it has been performed 16 times, attracting more than 80,000 viewers.
