SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bakwill lay out his policy plans for the next year in early January, local media reported.

"President Lee will explain next year's government policies on January 4th,"an unnamed government official told Seoul's Yonhap News Agency.

The president is mulling over inviting citizens for discussion rather than holding a press conference or addressing the public through a televised speech, according to Yonhap.

Lee will emphasize South Korea's performance in the face of global financial crisis, such as its role as a host country to the G20 summit next year and its recent win of a landmark nuclear reactor deal, Yonhap said.
