Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
HONG KONG, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong health authorities reported another death case of influenza A/H1N1 on Thursday, bringing the number to 43 in Hong Kong.
The case involved a 20-year-old male patient with leukemia. He developed flu symptoms on Tuesday and attended the hospital the same day, but his condition deteriorated rapidly. The patient died Wednesday morning while positive result of A/H1N1 was confirmed in the afternoon.
In the past week, a total of 1,673 patients with flu-like symptoms attended the Designated Flu Clinics, according to the Hospital Authority.
Among all confirmed A/H1N1 influenza patients, 106 confirmed patients are now staying in public hospitals for treatment, with 87 in stable condition, five in serious condition and 14 critical.
