CANBERRA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will meet U.S. president Barack Obama to talk about climate change next week.

"I've been invited by the President of the United States to meet with him in Washington next Monday," Rudd told parliament on Thursday.

Rudd will travel on to Washington after attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Trinidad over the weekend.

He said they would discuss the agenda for the UN climate summit in Copenhagen, adding the meeting was a positive step in the fight against climate change.

"I would have thought this was a good thing for our combined action on climate change," Rudd said.
