KABUL, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Six Taliban militants were killed as Afghan troops raided their hideouts in Khak-e-Safid district of Farah province west of Afghanistan on Wednesday, provincial police chief Faqir Ahmad Askaryar said Thursday.

The operation launched with the cooperation of locals in the wake of beheading two tribal elders in Khak-e-Safid district couple of days ago.

There were no casualties on the troops, he further stressed.

Taliban militants have not made comment.

The attack operation coincided with the oath taking ceremony of President Hamid Karzai for the second term on Thursday.

Taliban militants carried out series of roadside and suicide attacks in the east and south Afghanistan leaving over two dozen people dead and injured.

Hamid Karzai was sworn in as the president of the war-torn country for the second term amid tight security in a ceremony attended by hundreds of Afghan and international guests including president Asif Ali Zardari and Hillary Clinton.
