SINGAPORE, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Alan Garcia will leave the ongoing Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Singapore a day earlier, an official from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday.

"The President will still attend the dinner reception this evening, but he will not attend tomorrow's summit sessions, and he has asked the Peruvian Trade Minister to replace him at the meeting," said Alfonso Baz, an official from the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Reports that a Peruvian Air Force officer had been spying for Chile have triggered an uproar in Peru in recent days. A Peruvian judge on Friday issued an extradition order against two members of the Chilean military allegedly involved in the affair. Peru has already recalled its envoy from Chile.

Baz said that the espionage row is among a lot of things for the Peruvian President to take care of when he returns to his country.
