Aviation Museum reopened to celebrate Air Force's 60th founding anniversary

BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's largest aviation museum was reopened on Sunday after a four-month renovation in celebration of the upcoming People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force's 60th founding anniversary.

The new China Aviation Museum, lying in the north outskirts of Beijing, puts on display single-seat and double-seat J-10s, China's indigenous third-generation multirole fighter, Red Flag 12surface-to-air missiles and other sophisticated weaponry.

To celebrate the Air Force's founding anniversary that falls on Nov. 11, the museum has been given an extra show area of more than60,000 square meters.

However, the museum is now open to military personnel only and the public will not be allowed in until Nov. 15., after the celebrations.

An aviation exhibition commemorating the centennial development of China's aviation industry has been installed in the museum.

The museum collects more than 15,000 aviation items including 309 aircraft of various kinds and eras.
