VIENNA, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Defense Minister Dalabosi said on Monday that Austria would not send more troops to Afghanistan.
"Nothing will be changed" to the Austrian operation in Afghanistan, he told a press conference. "I can clearly say that "we have no intention to send more troops (to Afghanistan)."
Currently, only two Austrian military officers were participating in the NATO-led operation in Afghanistan.
According to Dalabosi, some 1,100 Austrian troops were stationed abroad on various peacekeeping missions, mostly in the Balkans.
Austria's daily Heute reported that the United States was putting pressure on Austria to increase its forces to the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan.
