2 Taliban commanders killed in S. Afghanistan

KABUL, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Afghan National Police (ANP) with the support of U.S.-led Coalition Forces eliminated five Taliban insurgents including two outfits' commanders in Afghanistan's southern province of Zabul on Monday, Interior Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"In a joint cleanup operation, ANP and coalition forces killedTaliban's Commanders Hamid Aqa renown as Jahadwal and Mullah Rozirenowned as Sadam along with their three armed men in Arghandab district on Monday," it said.

In a separate incident, fifteen Taliban militants were killed as ANP repelled their attack on Shurabak district of neighboring Kandahar province last Sunday, the statement added.

Two AK-47 machineguns and a RPG were found on the ground while three of the militants' vehicles were also damaged in firefight inShurabak, it said.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and international troops haveyet to make comments.
