Macao's Cultural Affairs Bureau announced on Wednesday that the 23rd Macao International Music Festival will be held between October 9th and November 8th. This year's festival embraces opera, symphonic, choral, and chamber music, as well as contemporary, folk, pop, fusion, and jazz music.

The eclectic mix will be presented by artists from 15 countries and regions. Headlining and opening the program of the festival is the Macao Orchestra's The Butterfly Lovers Concert. And bringing the symphonic program of the festival to an end will be the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of its Principal Conductor Christopher Poppen.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau says the festival will be accompanied by workshops and conferences with the aim of stimulating public interest in the arts.
