KABUL, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Two soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed in two separate incidents in southern and eastern Afghanistan during the last 24 hours, said a statement of the alliance issued here on Friday.

"An ISAF service member was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in southern Afghanistan on Oct. 1," the statement said.

It added that one U.S. service member was also confirmed dead of wounds sustained in a grenade attack in eastern Afghanistan.

Some 100,000 international troops have been deployed in conflict-plagued Afghanistan combating Taliban-led insurgency and helping with reconstruction under the framework of ISAF and the U.S.-led Coalition forces.

Conflicts and violence have claimed over 384 international troops, including 226 from America, so far this year in the post-Taliban country.
