Rehearsals have begun on "Long Live the Motherland," a gala to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

"Long Live, the Motherland" is part of China Central Television's tribute to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic. The show will include songs and dances, and be broadcast live to a nationwide audience.

The show will be divided into three segments, "Blood of Spring and Autumn," "The Glorious Cause," and "Long Live, Motherland." The General Director, Yang Dongsheng, says the show will be a dazzling visual splendor. He says it will adopt an innovative approach in presenting the achievements of New China over the past sixty years.

Among the performers will be leading hosts and news anchors of CCTV. They include Zhou Tao, Zhu Jun, Dong Qing, and Bai Yansong. Singers like Song Zuying and Mao Amin will perform memorable songs like "Dancing to the Music", "Birthday of Motherland", and "My Love for China".

Prominent contributors to the growth of China will also appear. Among them is Yang Liwei, China's first astronaut.
