Special Report: 60th Anniversary of PRC |
LIMA, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- President Alan Garcia said Thursday that Peru should learn from China's experience during the past 60 years in order to deal with the international challenges facing his country.
Garcia spoke with a Xinhua reporter during a reception at the Chinese embassy to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on Thursday.
The president said that China's great economic development during the past 30 years was not a miracle but instead, is the fruit of the nation's hard work.
Garcia added that during the time China opened up and boosted its economic development, it also paid attention to maintaining its competitiveness.
The president said Peru should learn from that experience in order to develop its economy and improve its production capacity and competitiveness in international markets.
Garcia said Peru values its friendship with China. He said the two countries have long maintained a cooperative friendship.
Peru and China in April signed a free trade agreement that provides both with advantages for bilateral investment and economic growth.
Peru has a steady economy and sound legal system that offers international investors, especially Chinese companies, opportunities, to invest in such sectors as mining, energy and tourism.
Chinese investment in Peru has increased significantly during Garcia's administration, an action that shows China's confidence in the country's markets.
